Once Upon A Time In The West - Page 1

Falling And Flying- Page 2

GRANDMA BERTIE'S

Up in the hills just north of Mobile
There's a lady some people try to call old
But she's got more life than a paradise
And a paradise is what we called her home
She raised more kids than her family,
The neighborhood she made a community
That's why we're goin' to Grandma Bertie's
One-hundred-and-three Surprise Birthday Party

She's got more scars than a kitchen floor
And still has a hug and smile for everyone
She says, "How you doin' child? How's your lovely wife?
Your precious little ones?"
Tells her stories of the road to glory
A face of grace, respect and dignity
We're goin' to Grandma Bertie's
One-hundred-and-three Surprise Birthday Party

She's as strong as the day is long
A rock of faith that shall not be moved
She's got more love than the sky above
A legacy and lord, is she living proof!
There's no way we can ever repay
Just tell her that we love her gratefully
We're goin' to Grandma Bertie's

One-hundred-and-three Surprise Birthday Party

(There'll be) cousins by the dozens
Casseroles just out of the oven
So many pies to the eyes delight
Sunday chicken, all southern fried
Cornbread, green beans,
Red eye gravy over everything
All the kisses and the how do ya dos?
Saturday noon, y'all come too

They'll come from far and wide
Hundreds strong and what a sight to see
We're goin' to Grandma Bertie's
One-hundred-and-three Surprise Birthday Party

FUNKY REGGAE

They will always underrate what they don’t know
Think I like it, Funky Reggae
And overestimate what they control
Think I like it, Funky Reggae

Set one pace and it seems too slow
Or make it like a race and nothing go
Find the right way and the body flow
Then we’ll celebrate, yeh

I see you out on the dancin’ floor
Think I like it, Funky Reggae
Watch you work out like a matador
Think I like it, Funky Reggae

See the red cape blind the poor old bulls
The spirit will attain where the mind can’t go
Recognize in the flesh and bone
We’re gonna celebrate, yeh

They cannot intimidate if we stay bold
Think I like it, Funky Reggae
Freedom is the place for the one true soul
Think I like it, Funky Reggae

Take your fill from the sacred bowl
Lively up yourself ’til the rooster crow
The poets will relate let the record show
We can celebrate, yeh

NOW I’M FREE

Walk a mile down to the sea
Let the waves rush over me
Silver bird up in the sky
Take a breath and close my eyes

Now I’m Free, I’m free
Now I’m Free
, So free

Don’t cha know I never had it so good?
Since leavin’ the neighborhood
Ain’t it funny what comes to mind?
When you’re leavin’ it all behind

Now I’m Free, I’m free
Now I’m Free
, So free
And nobody is going to catch me

Put the top down, desert air
Feel the wind rush through my hair
Don’t mind, no soul for miles
No worries so I have to smile

Now I’m Free, I’m free
Now I’m Free
, So free
And nobody is going to catch me

ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST

Long ago in the land of blow
We raised our kids on video whoa-o
Once upon a time in the west
We lost the war, no worries
Change the ending for the action movie-o!
Once upon a time in the west

Solo hittah by my side
With my posse we will ride
Daisy Duke and Frankenstein
Streamin’ live on the 405

Lock the beat, wonder girl
Live the life and kill the world whoa-o
Once upon a time in the west
Once upon a time in the west

Forty oz by my side
Fitty cent, Kentucky Fried
Low and wide Astroglide
Streamin’ live on the 405

Bump the grind, rock the kicks
Book the face with goldfish lips whoa-o
Once upon a time in the west
Carry on rank and mile
Carry out in the chinese style
Once upon a time in the west

Solo hittah by my side
With my posse we will ride
Daisy Duke and Frankenstein
Streamin’ live on the 405

Once upon a time in the west
Once upon a time in the west

The air is cool, the time serene
The mood is light and the sky is green

FUNKAPOTAMUS

All the folks in the neighborhood talk about this African dude
In the evenin,’ headin’ out to the clubs
His body don’t have much hair, don’t own no underwear
His teeth are funky, like ticket stubs

His name is Funkapotamous, a quiet and humble dude
He’s your bud covered in mud just tryin’ to stay cool
He looks half-baked in a herbal way but has his eye on you
He’s Funkapotamous! Ooooo

He gets dirty, likes to swim, underwater you can’t see him
But on land, he’s as big as day
You might say he’s a bit rotund talkin’ easy two tons of fun
Likes to travel with thirty ladies

His name is Funkapotamous, he can be a little dictatorious
A little shy 'til you pass by too close
He might upset a fishing boat or save some little swimming goat
From becoming a meal in the crocodile zone

He’s kinda grumpy, but thick skinned, it’s OK to laugh with him
He’s like a float in an Easter parade
Don’t try to call him fat, he’ll run you down, that’ll be that
Too fast for you, on you’re very best day

Ain’t no tellin’ where he go when Funkapotamous starts to roll
Steppin’ out in those sandal shoes
Ain’t no tellin’ what he do when Funkapotamous looks at you
He’s the king of the Zambezi crew (That’s a river in Africa, fool)

All the young and skinny crocodiles get attention, all the props awhile
For being dangerous, at the river bar
But the crocs stay outta his way, when Funka comes to play
Everybody know, he’s large and in charge

His name is Funkapotamous, he can be a little dictatorious
A little shy 'til you pass by too close
He might upset a fishing boat or save some little swimming goat
From becoming a meal in the crocodile zone

That Funkapotamous is one bad mother... (shut your mouth!)
Just talkin’ ’bout Funka! Can you dig it? We can dig it!

RUNNER

I think you're gonna be a runner
Do what you need to survive
Maybe if you just keep movin'
That'll be what keeps you alive
Someday there's gonna be a judgement
A judgement we're all gonna see
I think you're gonna be a runner
If you ever wanna be free

You were never a talker
Standin' on the side of the road
Like some midnight stalker
Burnin' and about to explode
You better seize the moment
Before it seizes you up
I think you're gonna be a runner
With nitro in your cup

Maybe you'll live on devotion
Maybe you'll live on speed
When it comes to emotion
Take it baby where it will lead
Somethin' will get you flyin'
As high as you're gonna reach
I think you're gonna be a runner
Like a preacher that just has to preach

Pick 'em up, put 'em down
Pick 'em up, put 'em down
Pick it up, put it down
Pick it up, put it down

I think you're gonna be a runner
Do what you need to survive
Maybe if you just keep movin'
That'll be what keeps you alive
Someday there's gonna be a judgement
A judgement we're all gonna see
I think you're gonna be a runner
If you ever wanna be free

MAKE IT HAPPEN

Why does so little always take so long?
It never happens soon
But every step will take us further on
And we’ll come pushin’ through
Oooo...Make it happen today
Oooo...Somehow some way

When I’m sad and feeling oh so blue
And don’t know what to do
I remember mama said “Stay true
And things will work out for you”
Oooo...Make it happen today
Somehow, some way

Is it all for the best?
The bigger the dream the harder the test
Waiting for tomorrow, is that too slow?
I miss your soft, sweet caress, your kiss
Telling me it’s good to be home

You’re a little like a friend I know
We used to be so close
We’ll get together for a drink or two
And then I have to go
Oooo...Make it happen today
Each and every way

DONT CALL ME MOTHERFUCKER

Here it is, I'm tippin' my lid
To all who start out as poor shy kids
Take a note to school and learn to read
Between the white lies, leave a few seeds
Are you a player fast with a glove?
I ain't a joiner so I ain't in your club
Don't live for danger, I live for love
But somehow we seem to find the both of...

Don't call me motherfucker
Until you know me better
Write it down in a letter
Send it with your sister

If you grow a face, you'll shed a few tears
Make some mistakes in your upstart years
Just find a place where you can do your thing
Find someone to love and pull the string
Be the first to raise a glass
For the holy smoke from outta your past
Play like hell before you sleep
Sit back and relax, then go deep

Don't call me motherfucker
Until you know me better
Write it down in a letter
Send it with your sister

It don't take two legs to getta move
Hit the skids or maybe a groove
If you you like the beat, then let it go on
'Til somebody blinks and the picture is gone
If you feel the blur...
Rub your eyes and remember the slur
Turn around three times and make a wish
'Cause I ain't takin' a shine to your dish

Don't call me motherfucker
Until you know me better
Write it down in a letter
Send it with your sister

WALK IT LIKE YOU TALK IT

Walk It Like You Talk It or you’ll lose that beat
Got to stand for somethin’ if you’re gonna walk with me
People talkin’ crazy, sayin’ things you can’t believe
Walk it like you talk it if you’re gonna walk with me

If you’re the ruler of your own kingdom
What is your decree?
If you’re gonna be with me
Need a little straight talk now
And a whole lot of...honesty

Everyone has their own declarations
Everyone their stride
Find a way to walk and talk together now
If we’re gonna be walkin’ side by side

Walk It Like You Talk It or you’ll lose that beat
Got to stand for somethin’ if you’re gonna walk with me
People talkin’ crazy, sayin’ things you can’t believe
Walk it like you talk it if you’re gonna walk with me

Walk It Like You Talk It or you’ll lose that beat
Got to stand for somethin’ if you’re gonna walk with me
People talkin’ crazy, sayin’ things you can’t believe
Walk it like you talk it if you’re gonna walk with me

ACT OF GRACE

She didn't want another baby
She had more than her share
The doctor would say, there's another way
She said no and I was spared
I'm no castaway, no promise denied
But for an act of grace, go I

What breaks like an ocean?
Scatters castles of sand?
Maybe I need to suffer and bleed
From the wounds made by my own hand
Who pulled me from the wreckage?
Told the Angel of Death to pass by?
But for an act of grace, go I

I have knelt and cried in dark water
For all of the wrongs I have done
Burned and laid waste to my sacred place
And walked with my back to the sun

What peace for the warrior?
From cannon and careless pride?
Who run hundred abreast to the beat of a chest
And fall before the other side
So full of life and courage to die
But for an act of grace, go I

You can kneel and cry in dark water
For all of the wrongs you have done
Burn and lay waste to your last sacred place
And walk with your back to the sun

Just in the moment of daybreak
Lost to the fading night sky
We hold yesterday in one of two ways
Either too close or way too high
To see another morning and merciful light
But for an act of grace,
But for an act of grace,
But for an act of grace, go I
But for an act of grace, go I
