GRANDMA BERTIE'S
Up in the hills just north of Mobile There's a lady some people try to call old But she's got more life than a paradise And a paradise is
what we called her home She raised more kids than her family, The neighborhood she made a community That's why we're goin' to Grandma Bertie's One-hundred-and-three Surprise
Birthday Party
She's got more scars than a kitchen floor And still has a hug and smile for everyone She says, "How
you doin' child? How's your lovely wife? Your precious little ones?" Tells her stories of the road to glory A face of grace, respect and dignity We're goin' to Grandma
Bertie's One-hundred-and-three Surprise Birthday Party
She's as strong as the day is long A rock of faith that shall not be moved She's got more
love than the sky above A legacy and lord, is she living proof! There's no way we can ever repay Just tell her that we love her gratefully We're goin' to Grandma Bertie's One-hundred-and-three Surprise Birthday Party
(There'll be) cousins by the dozens Casseroles just out of the oven So many pies to the eyes
delight Sunday chicken, all southern fried Cornbread, green beans, Red eye gravy over everything All the kisses and the how do ya dos? Saturday noon, y'all come too
They'll come from far and wide Hundreds strong and what a sight to see We're goin' to Grandma
Bertie's One-hundred-and-three Surprise Birthday Party
FUNKY REGGAE
They will always underrate what they don’t know Think I like it, Funky Reggae And overestimate
what they control Think I like it, Funky Reggae
Set one pace and it seems too slow Or make it like a race and nothing go Find the right way and the body
flow Then we’ll celebrate, yeh
I see you out on the dancin’ floor Think I like it, Funky Reggae Watch you work out like a
matador Think I like it, Funky Reggae
See the red cape blind the poor old bulls The spirit will attain where the mind can’t go Recognize in the
flesh and bone We’re gonna celebrate, yeh
They cannot intimidate if we stay bold Think I like it, Funky Reggae Freedom is the place for the one
true soul Think I like it, Funky Reggae
Take your fill from the sacred bowl Lively up yourself ’til the rooster crow The poets will relate let
the record show We can celebrate, yeh
NOW I’M FREE
Walk a mile down to the sea Let the waves rush over me Silver bird up in the sky Take a breath and close my
eyes
Now I’m Free, I’m free Now I’m Free, So free
Don’t cha know I never had it so good? Since leavin’ the neighborhood Ain’t it funny what
comes to mind? When you’re leavin’ it all behind
Now I’m Free, I’m free Now I’m Free, So free And nobody is going to catch me
Put the top down, desert air Feel the wind rush through my hair Don’t mind, no soul for miles No
worries so I have to smile
Now I’m Free, I’m free Now I’m Free, So free And nobody is going to
catch me

FUNKAPOTAMUS
All the folks in the neighborhood talk about this African dude In the evenin,’ headin’ out to the clubs His body don’t have much hair, don’t own no underwear His teeth are funky, like
ticket stubs
His name is Funkapotamous, a quiet and humble dude He’s your bud covered in mud just tryin’ to stay cool He
looks half-baked in a herbal way but has his eye on you He’s Funkapotamous! Ooooo
He gets dirty, likes to swim, underwater you can’t see him But on land, he’s as big as day You
might say he’s a bit rotund talkin’ easy two tons of fun Likes to travel with thirty ladies
His name is Funkapotamous, he can be a little dictatorious A little shy 'til you pass by too close He might upset a fishing
boat or save some little swimming goat From becoming a meal in the crocodile zone
He’s kinda grumpy, but thick skinned, it’s OK to laugh with him He’s like a float in an Easter
parade Don’t try to call him fat, he’ll run you down, that’ll be that Too fast for you, on you’re very best day
Ain’t no tellin’ where he go when Funkapotamous starts to roll Steppin’ out in those sandal shoes Ain’t no tellin’
what he do when Funkapotamous looks at you He’s the king of the Zambezi crew (That’s a river in Africa, fool)
All the young and skinny crocodiles get attention, all the props awhile For being dangerous, at the river
bar But the crocs stay outta his way, when Funka comes to play Everybody know, he’s large and in charge
His name is Funkapotamous, he can be a little dictatorious A little shy 'til you pass by too close He might upset a fishing
boat or save some little swimming goat From becoming a meal in the crocodile zone
That Funkapotamous is one bad mother... (shut your mouth!) Just talkin’ ’bout Funka! Can you dig it? We can dig it!
