Reasons to Visit Mykonos
As a solo traveler myself I had always thought of Mykonos as a party place. When I went there, however, I found out that there are a lot of things to do in Mykonos aside from partying. I enjoyed wandering around the narrow, cobbled streets of Old Town, checking out the quaint shops and cafes and visiting the Mykonos Municipal Art Museum.
I can also recommend visiting Mykonos Windmills. It's a great place to take a selfie! From there, you can head down to Little Venice for a magnificent sunset view while sipping your favorite cocktail. These two locations are adjacent and close to one another.
If you are a beach lover, Agios Stefanos beach near to the new port is my favorite. No nudists whatsoever, so if that's your thing, this may not be the beach for you.
If you are on a budget like I am, food in Mykonos can be very cheap. In fact, there's a lot of fast food. Sakis is a place with a menu full of delicious food. The pork and chicken gyros are excellent. The staff are very friendly and prepare the food right in front of you. Then, you can choose between sitting and enjoying your meal, making new friends, or strolling through the tight Mykonos cobbled streets. Delicious and yet not expensive.
Mykonos may have a reputation as an island of hedonistic thrills and wild parties. I did not party there, but during my stay I feel that I discovered the real beauty and charm of the island.
